Teagle Assessment Scholar Program Application

Our Teagle Assessment Scholar Program is currently full, and we are not accepting applications at this time. As positions in the program open we will again take applications. We will update this page in January 2012 with more information about future application dates.

To apply to the Teagle Assessment Scholar Program, please complete the application below. Email your answers to the following questions, along with your curriculum vitae, to Kathy Wise at kathyswise@gmail.com.

Before we review your application, we ask that you participate in one Center of Inquiry workshop or site visit. We have found that this is a good way for potential new Scholars to get a sense of the Teagle Scholar Program. It also allows us to learn a little more about applicants, outside of the information provided in your application. We will cover all expenses (travel, food, and lodging) associated with this activity. Once we receive your application, CV, and support letter, we will put you on an email list to receive notifications about upcoming site visits and workshops so that you can sign up for events that you are interested in. Participating in one site visit or workshop will complete your application to the Teagle Assessment Scholar Program.

  1. Name
  2. Current position and institution
  3. Disciplinary background
  4. Why are you interested in becoming a Teagle Assessment Scholar?
  5. Please list your experience with general education, department, program, course, or other kinds of assessment at your institution, including a brief description of the roles you played and the dates you were involved, starting with your current or most recent activities.
  6. Please briefly describe an assessment initiative that you directed or implemented at your institution, including the goal of the initiative, the process that you went through to implement the initiative, and the end result of your work. What was the most challenging aspect of this project?  What did you learn from your work on this initiative, and how did this experience modify your practice going forward?
  7. Please discuss how working with faculty, staff, and students from institutions other than your own connects with your professional development goals. If you have experience helping other institutions with assessment, please mention that here.

All applications must be accompanied by a signed letter from your institution’s Chief Academic Officer, indicating:

  • Support for your application.
  • Willingness to allow you to travel to Center of Inquiry events once or twice a year (institutional site visits, multi-institution workshops, or Teagle Scholar Development Workshops), as well as to the initial workshop or site visit that is part of the application process. The Center of Inquiry covers all costs associated with these activities.
