The Teagle Scholar Development Program provides professional development for Scholars so that they can collaborate with others at their institution, as well as with people at other institutions, to use evidence to improve student learning. Scholars' projects at their institutions are an important component of the program. Another core element is that Scholars help the Center of Inquiry provide assessment support for other colleges and universities.
All applications must be accompanied by a signed letter from your institution’s Chief Academic Officer, indicating:
- Support for your application.
- Knowledge of the direction of your proposed institutional assessment/improvement project.
- Willingness to meet with you periodically to get an update on your progress in the program and on your assessment/action project.
- Willingness to support two site visits to your institution—one during the first year and a half of the program and one at the conclusion of your project. The purpose of these visits is to help you develop, implement, and complete your assessment/action project. Your institution should cover food and lodging expenses for the site visit teams (usually two people per team).
- Willingness to allow you to travel to three Teagle Scholar Development Workshops during your first two years in the program. The Center of Inquiry covers all costs associated with these workshops.
- Willingness to allow you to travel to two Center of Inquiry events (institutional site visits or multi-institution workshops, usually three days, two nights) during your first two years in the program. The Center of Inquiry covers all costs associated with these activities.
- Willingness to provide at least $1,500 over three years to create a budget to support your assessment/action project on campus.
- Willingness of the institution to pay $500 per year for three years ($1,500 in total) to sponsor you in the Development Program. (Cost in 2012 will be $1,000 per year for three years, $3,000 in total.)
